Made in Japan...Part 2

Here is Part 2 of my Made in Japan thrifts. You can view Part 1 here

Made in Japan thrift haul~Part 2!

A set of 3 Kokeshi dolls from Salvation Army. I paid $6 for the set. I'm not sure of the age of these
dolls but they look more modern then vintage to me. I would love to know if anyone has any info on these?

Each doll is marked on the bottom...so wish I could read Japanese!

A novelty baby planter made by Ruben. The baby is pulling the stork's reins which are made of satin ribbon. On the bottom it still has the foil sticker that says Ruben's Originals, Los Angeles. I often see these vintage baby planters and think they would look really sweet grouped together in a baby's nursery.

I collect vintage Disney so I was pleased to find this cute Winnie the Pooh porcelain planter. It's made in the 1960's by Enesco in Japan for Walt Disney Productions. It's in pretty good condition other then a small chip on Pooh's red shirt. I suppose it could be easily covered up with a bit of red paint. It would make a great pencil holder.

A sweet Napco Christmas Angel~ she was part of a set but I left the other one behind as it was badly chipped and the wings had been poorly reattached. It still has its foil Napco sticker on the bottom. I also found this Nikko egg cup for 49 cents. I already have a Nikko Christmas platter that matches this design.

Lastly I found this amazing cotton handkerchief. I love the pop of colour and cherry pattern. I plan on wearing it as a head scarf in the summer. It still has it's made in Japan tag.

  1. those kokeshi are daruma for sure, thought I usually see them in red and made of paper mache (I collect those!) I can't help you with dating them though, I haven't figured out a fool proof way to figure out if mine are vintage either! they are pretty cool though!
