Easter Bunny is heading South!

So I finally decided to sign up for my first official Easter swap with Sue @ It's A Very Cherry World. I had my first practice swap with my sister which you can read about here.

Aloha!

So I have just returned from a relaxing two week vacation in Maui, Hawaii with RJ and the kids! We had a fantastic time enjoying the 6 S's! Sun, Sunsets, Sand, Surf, Sea life and Shaka! I also managed to sneak in a bit of thrifting. I will post later what thrifty souvenirs came home with me.

Every vacation deserves a bunting so I sewed this 'ALOHA' one using some of my thrifted vintage floral fabrics.

A little Vintage St. Patty's Day Decorating

Top of the morning (or evening) to you!

Here's how I decorated my kitchen harvest table for St. Patty's Day! My feather tree is a little bare, just a little shamrock garland from the Dollar Tree. I am certainly in need of some vintage shamrock ornies. My sister sewed me the "Go Green" bunting a few years back. I just love the mid mod design of this Finnish tablecloth and thought it was a great contrast to my kitchsy leprechaun!

Most of my vintage table clothes don't have their original tags still attached so I was pleased to see the maker of this one. It's  Finlayson and was thrifted from Salvation Army for $2.

 

So what do you think of my leprechaun? Pretty cute, eh! I thrifted this 1968 Leprechaun by Reliable Toy Co. Toronto, Canada for $3 from Salvation Army. I scooped him right out of the cart they wheeled from the back room. I'm sure LUCKY! 

Vintage Irish Linen Tea Towel. Love the illustration and design. The only thing I ever seem to find at VVs are great vintage tea towels. I paid $1.99 for this one.

   

My daughter's birthday is in March so I couldn't pass up buying this vintage Napco March birthday angel unfortunately it is not in great condition. Still cute and worth the 99 cents price tag!

Getting caught up! Thrifty finds

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. It's hard to believe it's almost March. I will be heading back to work in a couple of weeks as my baby girl will soon be turning 1 years old! It's been a great maternity leave but I do miss being in the classroom.

I thought I would share with you some recently thrifted items I've picked up this past month.

Snowflake Turquoise Rectangular Casserole Baking Dish # 575 2 qt for $2.99.

Spring Blossom 1.5 qt oval casserole dish with lid for $3.99. Both pieces of Pyrex with thrifted from Salvation Army.

8 vintage jelly molds for 99 cents. I loved the colours and thought they would be great for crafting...I have plans to use them for Easter decorations.

Made in Japan oven proof baking dish for a $1. Not sure if it's vintage I just liked the shape and heart motif.

A minty set of 4 Federal Bowling glasses for $2. I have a thing for vintage bowling items ever since I threw my son a retro themed bowling birthday party.

2 Glasbake D-ring bowling mugs for $1. 

2 vintage ROSTI mugs in yellow and orange made in Denmark. I paid a $1 for the pair. I also found this cute set of "Little Forks" made in Japan for $1. Both the mugs and forks are in excellent condition. 

It's hard to believe I thrifted all these items for less then $15!

The best kind of Pyrex...

is gifted!! Last Friday I ventured across the border (the Quebec border that is) and visited with a friend who has an extensive Pyrex and Catherine Holm collection. She wanted to thin out some of her Pyrex and she knows I'm starting to collect so she offered a few of her doubles to ME! Next time I'll post some photos of her collection it's amazing.

A set of Verde fridgies!! with lids of course.

A Horizon Blue Cinderella nesting casserole dish. This is one of my favourite Pyrex patterns.

A Forest Fancies Mushroom Cinderella nesting bowl.

A Woodland brown Cinderella casserole dish with lid. This is not my favourite pattern but I was happy to have it!

Two Butterfly Gold Cinderella nesting bowls. I already have the larger one but this one is in much better condition.

We also managed to visit a few "Comptoir Familial" 

but only I only came home with a couple of things 

which I'll post later.

It's so nice to have friends that want to support your habit hobby!

Key Lime Pie À La Pyrex

Key Lime Pie is one of my favourite desserts.

While grocery shopping at Walmart the other day I spotted bags of key limes for $1.49. It's rare to find key limes in my area so I decided to pick up a couple bags and bake a pie using some of my vintage, thrifted Pyrex. I found this Martha Stewart recipe. 

Key limes are smaller then regular limes and are quite tricky to juice. Two bags yielded a 1/2 cup of key lime juice.

What makes a good key lime pie is the crust. The recipe calls for a combination of graham crumbs and sugar ~ I used brown sugar. Next time I think I will add ground pecans to the crust.

Bake your crust until golden brown then add your key lime filling.

Bake until set.

I used the left over egg whites to make a meringue topping but whip cream will suffice.

Voilà! Key Lime Pie À La Pyrex.

My Feather Tree ~ Belated Valentine's edition

Valentine's Day has come and gone but I thought I would share with you how I decorated my Martha Stewart Feather tree.

I stitched up these hearts using some vintage Valentine's themed fabric.

Red lace to use as garland.

I purchased two of these heart garlands after Valentine's Day from Winners for 90 cents a piece!

These cute ornaments were 50% off at Michael's plus I got to use my 15% teacher's discount!

I used these mini Valentine's clothes pegs to attach the vintage Valentine's I received in my Valentine's day swap with my sister.

No holiday is complete without a bunting! Sewed this one using some vintage ticking fabric I purchased from Goodwill.

Shrove Tuesday's table setting! The Vintage Valentine's plates and table runner were bought on clearance from PBK a couple of years ago and I thrifted the vintage Libby circus glasses.
