Noël C'est Rouge!

It's Rednesday and with Christmas approaching I wanted to share with you some of my fabulous and red thrifty holiday items!

So cute! 3 pixies in row...can you spot them in my pile of vintage ornaments I scored for $2!

Two vintage Libbey cherry juice glasses for a $1. So bright and cheerful! They are small in size so at first I thought they were shot glasses but later realized they were for juice.

I was amazed to see this Vintage Ding Dong Express Tin Toy Train from the 1960's made in Japan. It just so happened toys were 99 cents at Salvation Army when I found this tucked away on a shelf. It's in pretty rough condition but I thought it would be cute with a tiny wreath on the front for my Christmas display.

Some red vintage paisley fabric and sewing notions!

`

I was delighted to find this ornament of Santa doing a hand stand~so cute!

A Christmas tray made in Hong Kong and a vintage Santa mug made in Japan. I think I'm going to use the mug to make one of these cute bottle brush tree decorations seen here.

Two adorable 1950's plastic Santa boot candy containers. These are marked made in the USA possibly by Rosbro? However they appear to be two left feet!?!

Two packages of vintage ornaments for 99 cents each! So excited to put them on my tinsel tree!

What I left behind...

Yesterday I went to my local Salvation Army. I like to go on Mondays because they tend to have a lot of merch from weekend donations. I actually only bought one item which I'll post about later but here are some of the vintage items I left behind...

Straight from the 70s! So Retro and Canadian made!! These are the "Power-Roller" blue suede jogging shoe skate. They are in great condition, barely worn and come complete with their original box. They were priced at $14.99 unfortunately they were too small for me (size 6). Growing up we had a local roller rink that we used to visit on the weekends. I had a pair of white boot roller skates which I loved!

Here you have a vintage young boys two-piece leisure suit. It appears to be hand made and priced at $7.99. Looks like a suit Juan Epstein from Welcome Back Kotter might of worn! I'm all for vintage kids clothes but there is just a little too much polyester for my taste.

A Hudson Leather motorcycle vest. This company is based in Ohio and still make these vests. This is a ladies vertical braided vest priced right at $9.99!

A set of 6 vintage Pyrex milk glass mugs and matching saucers in the Morning Blue pattern. Priced right at 49 cents a piece! Not loving this pattern so I left them behind.

A 1950s Japan made "Cookie House" cookie jar! I totally would of bought this for $2.99 but upon further inspection there was just too many cracks and chips to make it worth it.

Would you of taken any of these vintage items home with you?

$5 takes it all!

Saturday I was lucky to hit a church rummage sale and while driving home I stumbled on an Estate Sale blocks from my home! Love it when that happens.

The pickings where slim as I think the sale started on Friday but this is the box I managed to get for $5!
My haul of retro goodies!

A Pyrex Cookie Jar! It's in pretty good condition just some light wear on the letter E in 'The'. What's neat about this jar is if your cookies go slightly stale you just take the lid off and pop the whole jar in the oven~ ingenious!

A forest green planter pot that was most likely made in the 1950's. It was made by Ungemach Pottery - UP Co. USA. This planter was pretty dirty so when I got home I gave it a good scrub and noticed a small chip on the bottom corner. Oh well

Some vintage Disney Christmas wrap featuring the whole gang~ Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy Duck! You can see more of my vintage Mickey finds here.

A very cool hand towel with the word LOVE screened on~ possibly a squash towel? It was made in the USA by the Cannon towel company. Anyone know if this is a company logo?

A copy of LIFE Magazine ~ The 70s December issue from 1979! It's not in the best condition but has some amazing pictures and articles from that decade. Since I was a born in the 70s I felt I better add this magazine to my collection!
I will share some of the great ads in a later post.

This was probably my favourite find of the day! It's a a colourful set of vintage nesting snack bowls with a bowler on top! This will be a perfect addition to my son's upcoming Retro Mr. Men Bowling Party! I love the cursive lettering.

Trophies were everywhere!! Again some added vintage decorations for the upcoming Part-ay. I managed to find 3 bowling trophies~ accidentally dropped one! knew I should of grabbed a box sooner... hopefully some Gorilla Glue can fix it.

The basement of this house was a blast from the past~ Do you remember GINI soda pop?? It was a staple in our house growing up. These bottle had never been opened!

Hope you had as thrifty a weekend as I did! Stay tuned for my Church Rummage Sale finds!!

Mugs, Mugs and more Mugs!

Do you collect vintage mugs? Here's a look at some of our mugs we've recently acquired...

Bonnet Girls Termocrisa Casa Milk Glass Stacking Mugs

I found 4 of these vintage Termocrisa stacking mugs for a steal at Sally Ann! I paid a $2 for the set. Upon further research these mugs were made for the Latin American market and were considered Fire King knock offs! They are in excellent condition and I was thrilled to add them to my mug collection.

1960s Era Vintage Pyrex Blue Striped Coffee Mugs

RJ bought these 3 Pyrex mugs online not sure what he paid. He appreciates vintage things online but despises going to thrift stores!

Vintage? Made In Czechoslovakia Mug with Lid

I don't know much about this mug other then where it was made.
If anyone has any information about this sweet mug I would love to hear from you!?!

Vintage Arcopal France Clown Mug
I'm not a fan of clowns but I couldn't resist buying this mug from GW for $1.04...what's with the strange pricing at GW??

Vintage Gorham Sesame Street Mug
I was so excited when I spotted this Sesame Street Mug circa 1976 on the shelf at Sally Ann for 49 cents! This mug features Grover milking a cow and all the Sesame Street characters are waiting their mugs. You can see more the Gorham Sesame Street China mugs here.

There you have it a small but fun collection of mugs.
Wishing everyone a thrifty weekend!

Lots of thrifty bloggers have been posting about Gurley candles lately~ these aren't marked but for 50 cents a piece who cares!

Vintage Pyrex Platter with the Red Laurel pattern. Great vintage condition priced right at $2.99.

Made in Korea vintage Santa ornaments. These will look great on my feather Christmas tree.

Vintage apron ~ "Women's Work is Never Done" ain't that the truth!!
Frank Vetere's Pizzeria Coca Cola glasses! Now I have a set of 4. This was my favourite pizza place in the 80s~  Do you remember Frank Vetere's?
Vintage stuffed Santa Claus with his original price tag from the Bay! It was marked on sale for $2.50. I paid $2.99 from Value Village.

Obama or Romney?

Who will it be?

Wishing all of our American friends a Happy Election Day!
Go Obama Go!!

Vintage Mid-Century Turner Prints

A couple of years ago I purchased a pair of vintage Turner mid-century Cockatoo prints at Salvation Army. You wouldn't believe what I paid for them...$2.99 each!! Yes, I know I was shocked as well when I saw the price.

These prints are in their original Art Deco mirrored frames and signed Turner. There is some wear on the frames but overall they are in great vintage condition!

Excuse the bad photos ~ it's tricky photographing mirrors!

I had been storing them at my father's place and forgot all about them! I guess I didn't have a place to hang them but now I have the perfect spot! Just need to find where I put the hammer and wall hooks!?!
